The day started at the market, where the air was filled with the scent of fresh herbs, ripe fruit, and warm tortillas. We wandered through the stalls, learning about the different types of native corn—deep blue, golden yellow, speckled white—each with its own story, its own flavor.
With our baskets full, we headed to the kitchen, where the real magic began. We soaked, ground, and shaped the masa, pressing each tortilla by hand, just as generations before us have done. The comal sizzled, filling the air with that unmistakable, toasty aroma.
